How to Choose a Stand-Up Reach Forklift

• Lift height: choose a mast that lifts the forks above your top beam, with room to set the pallet down.
• Capacity at height: rated capacity drops as the forks go higher. Check the truck's capacity at your top beam, not just its base rating.
• Aisle width: check the truck's right-angle stacking aisle width against your narrowest aisle.
• Floors: reach trucks run on polyurethane wheels made for smooth indoor concrete.
• Battery: match the battery voltage to your chargers, and plan a spare battery or opportunity charging for multiple shifts.

Reach Truck or Another Stand-Up Forklift?

Any forklift you drive standing up gets called a "stand up forklift", but they do different jobs. A reach truck is built for racking in narrow aisles. For pallets stored two deep, you need a stand-up double reach truck. For docks and trailers, a stand-up counterbalance forklift has no outriggers and drives right into the trailer.
